Access by Air
Dublin, Cork and Shannon Airports are the main international Irish Airports.

Shannon Airport is at the heart of the Region and there are scheduled flights, daily, on a year round basis to and from Dublin operated by Aer Lingus and from London Heathrow (Aer Lingus), London Stansted (Ryanair), Manchester and Birmingham (British Airways).

Aer Lingus operate scheduled flights from Dusseldorf during the summer. Ryanair operate daily services to Hahn (Frankfurt), Paris Beauvais and Charleroi(Brussels).

During May to September, and in certain cases April to October, there are charter flight series operating directly to Shannon from several cities in Germany, France, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark and Norway.

Aeroflot operate a number of schedule flights weekly from Moscow. Belavia operate a service from Minsk to Shannon.
Royal Jordanian operate from Amman to Shannon.

There is a high frequency of direct schedule and charter flights to Shannon from some of the major cities in the U.S.
Aer Lingus fly to Shannon year round from Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, New York (JFK).
Continental Airlines, fly from their Newark hub.
Royal Jordanian, operate from Chicago and New York (JFK).
Delta Airlines fly Shannon year round from Atlanta.
Air Canada will fly Toronto / Dublin / Shannon / Toronto on a daily basis from June 01, 2002.
Summer charter flights operate to Shannon from Boston, Detroit, New York.

'Skynet Airlines' fly to and from Moscow/Amsterdam to Shannon.

'Aer Arann Express' fly to and from Dublin to Shannon.






Ferries
Sea ferry services operate, year-round, from the U.K. and France.
Ferries travel to Cork, Rosslare, Dun Laoghaire and Dublin ferryports. Larne is approx. 5 hours.





TRAVELLING IN IRELAND

Rail

Limerick City's Colbert Station and Galway Station are the hubs of the regional rail network with frequent daily services to all destinations throughout Ireland. The approximate journey time by train between Galway / Limerick and Dublin is just over 2 hours.
Ennis, Tralee, Nenagh, Thurles, Birdhill, Roscrea, Cloughjordan and Templemore are the Regional rail stations included in the national grid. Iarnrod Eireann, the operators of the rail system, offer a range of daily, weekly, monthly, and early train saver fares.

Bus

Bus Eireann operates a comprehensive provincial bus service to the many towns and villages throughout the Region. These services operate out of the main urban centres at Limerick, Galway, Tralee and Ennis. The provincial routes operate as a commuter and feeder service. Main towns are connected by the Expressway service which operates on a frequent basis and forms part of the national bus routes to Ireland's other main towns and cities. Frequent user tickets, by the day, week, and month are available from the main stations. During the summer months extra services operate to the main seaside resorts and places of interest like Doolin in Co. Clare which also has Ferry crossings to the Aran Islands.

Car

There are trunk roads, joining all major cities in Ireland.

Car Hire is readily available at Airports and in the cities including Dublin, Galway and Limerick.
